    Are you an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander high school student or recent school leaver aged between 15 and 21?  An AFL SportsReady traineeship may be the opportunity you’re looking for to start your education, employment or training career!

    We offer the following types of traineeships:

    • Full-time: 12-month placement in an organisation
    • Part-time: 2-year placement in an organisation

    • School-based: 2-year placement in an organisation working approximately one day a week (depending on your state requirement) whilst completing senior school

    Warumilang Program prides itself on creating strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and communities. Including our host organisations and embedding cultural competency and respect in all aspects of our work.

    Our team supports our partners in identifying meaningful employment opportunities. That can introduce employers to future Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Trainees and support building their talent pipeline.

    Our services include:

    • Attracting First Nations applicants using culturally safe recruitment practices
    • Screening and matching First Nations candidates to the opportunity
    • Supporting and mentoring successful candidates in their employment journey.

    First Nation Australians can face many challenges at the beginning and throughout their career journey. To help mitigate any difficulties, we provide all our First Nation trainees with a personal ‘support team’, which includes.

    • AN EXCLUSIVE FIRST NATIONS MENTOR provides personal, cultural and career pathway support.
    • A DEDICATED FIELD OFFICER to assist with the work placement and ensure success.
    • AN EDUCATOR / TEACHER provides the education component of the traineeship
    Our Trainees and partners are supported every step of the way, which creates a productive  working environment.
