Aspiring Koorie Teachers Now Program – Indigenous Earn & Learn Program 2026

Are you passionate about education and looking for a pathway into the industry? The Aspiring Koorie Teachers (AKT) Now Program combines paid employment, study and mentoring, allowing you to gain valuable workplace experience while completing a nationally recognised qualification.

What’s Included?

Paid employment in a Victorian Government school.
Funded Certificate IV in School-Based Education Support (CHC40221).
Indigenous mentoring and support from experienced education professionals.

How It Works

Work 2 days per week as an Education Support Officer while studying.
Study 3 days per week online for 6 months.
Transition to full-time employment (5 days per week) outside of study.
Earn up to $43,600 per year.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
Aged 18 years or older
Currently living in Victoria, or reside in a cross-border community
Hold or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check and Police Check
Be prepared to complete any required pre-training reviews, suitability assessments and eligibility checks associated with the program and qualification
