Football is more than a game, it connects players, families and communities across Western Australia. WA Football, is proud to be the caretakers of the game in Western Australia. From local ovals to the elite stage, WA Football makes football accessible, inclusive and open to everyone. They also proudly hold the licenses for WA’s two AFL clubs – Fremantle Football Club and West Coast Eagles.

The First Nations Program Trainee helps deliver programs, projects and events for First Nations communities across WA. The role supports stronger First Nations participation in WA Football and works to increase representation across all areas of the game. They also assist in the delivery of culturally informed pathways, engagement and strategies that encourage meaningful, long-term involvement.

Key Responsibilities: The role supports the implementation of the WA Football First Nations Engagement Strategy by providing operational and administrative assistance across programs, players, families and advisory groups. The First Nations Program Trainee will work closely with the Indigenous and Multicultural Relationship Manager and assist with talent pathways and academy programs. They will also support cultural initiatives, engagement activities, and help maintain relationships with external partners and key AFL stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, general football knowledge and the ability to work well with others. They should be open to learning and contributing in a culturally informed environment. The trainee will need basic Microsoft Office skills and must be able to work both in a team and independently. A valid driver’s license is required, as well as some weekend and after-hours work.
