AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) is the peak body for Australian Rules Football in the Northern Territory. The AFL is Australia’s premier sporting organisation supporting a constantly evolving national competition which has experienced rapid growth over the past 10 years. The AFL is responsible for growing and developing Australian Football across Australia. It is AFL Northern Territory’s vision that participation growth continues to build, assisted by a strong club network with an enhanced focus on engaging female, multicultural and indigenous communities.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the Sport and Recreation industry, working with the AFLNT Game Development team while completing a Certificate III in Sport & Recreation. The Trainee will report to the Talent & Participation Lead and play a hands-on role in supporting participation growth, talent pathways and community engagement across the region.

Key Responsibilities: The Trainee will work closely with the AFLNT Game Development team to deliver AFL programs such as School Auskick, Superkick and Nines. Responsibilities include assisting with planning and program delivery, expanding AFL into new communities, building relationships with schools and stakeholders and developing culturally appropriate and inclusive programs. The role involves designing community-based AFL development programs, delivering high-quality experiences for participants and supporting administration tasks such as participation reporting, redeeming sports vouchers and tracking growth. The Trainee will also contribute to the delivery of competitions, events and support the broader AFLNT team where required.

Applicants must have a genuine passion for Australian Rules Football and a desire to contribute to its growth throughout the Northern Territory are essential. Some after-hours work including evenings and weekends may be required.

National Training Wage from: $27,000, plus 12% Superannuation
