Goal-Getter’s Traineeship to Education Assistant
Ellie Torney is a goal-getter chasing her career dreams, and it all started with a traineeship!
Ellie brings a wealth of experience and passion to the sports team at Salesian College Sunbury. Though she didn’t graduate from this school, her journey has been impactful.
Completing her traineeship last year, Ellie has secured a part-time role, bringing her expertise and enthusiasm to the school community.
One of Ellie’s standout moments has been the opportunity to coach students of all ages, particularly Year 7’s. Watching young athletes develop their skills and grow in confidence has been incredibly rewarding for her.
I think my confidence has grown a lot in the past year and I’ve been given a lot of opportunities to take on more responsibilities.
In her traineeship role, Ellie coordinated inter-school sports, leveraging her organisational skills and dedication to youth development. Her responsibilities are diverse and critical, encompassing everything from planning events to fostering a supportive and dynamic sports environment.
Ellie is also pursuing a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education and Teaching at La Trobe University. Alongside her studies, she is actively engaged as an Education Assistant at Salesian College Sunbury. Her competencies in training shine through in this role, as she continues to inspire and guide young athletes.
In parallel with her educational pursuits and role, Ellie leads as the head coach for the U16 Girls VJBL team. She imparts techniques and creates a love for the game while travelling across the state to compete.
This dual role showcases her commitment to sports and dedication to nurturing the next generation of athletes.
