Supervising Gold Coast SUNS Marketing Trainee

Supervising Gold Coast SUNS Marketing Trainee

Madison Fay, the Senior Brand & Marketing Executive at the Gold Coast SUNS, has witnessed firsthand the positive impact of having a dedicated Marketing Trainee like Charli Kelley on her team. Madi, who started with the SUNS in January 2022, has seen the club grow rapidly and recognises the importance of nurturing young talent.

We have weekly meetings on Wednesdays where everyone talks about their current projects. Charli used to be a bit nervous, but recently, she confidently shared what she was working on and felt comfortable discussing her responsibilities with the team. We’re a pretty loud group, so I’m really proud of how confident Charli has become and how she’s managed to come out of her shell.

Madi highlights that the Gold Coast SUNS, the second youngest team in the competition, is making significant strides in the marketing world with a young and dynamic team.

We’re taking the marketing world by storm here at the SUNS.

We do everything from traditional to digital advertising for the club, and trying to market a young club with a newer fanbase to national and local audiences is a pretty big deal to us.

Having Charli on board has been a game-changer for the Marketing Team.

Charli is our first Trainee in the Marketing Team and she has been incredibly beneficial for us.

She’s not just a Trainee; she’s an important and capable member of our team.

Madi’s experience as Charli’s supervisor has been overwhelmingly positive.

I remember seeing Charli’s resume and instantly knowing she would be a great fit. She had experience volunteering on match days for the Brisbane Lions and her cover letter mentioned how she regularly checked the AFL SportsReady website for roles.

You could tell Charli was really keen, and I saw a bit of myself in her.

Charli’s contributions have allowed Madi to delegate tasks confidently, freeing up time to focus on other priorities.

Charli has been super helpful when it comes to resourcing and being able to delegate work. Having trust and faith in someone to take on tasks and run with them has made all of the new changes possible.

Reflecting on Charli’s growth;

I couldn’t have asked for a better Trainee.

Charli is a superstar, and you forget she’s a Trainee because she’s such an important member of our team.
