At Westall Secondary College, dedicated teaching and education support staff work collaboratively in teams to plan and facilitate a teaching a learning program that meets the needs of all students. Their focus is on a personalised learning approach helps ensure every student is nurtured, challenged and connected in their growth as a person and as a learner.

The Sports and Recreation Trainee provides administrative and technical support to the Physical Education and Sport Coordinator as well as teachers in the Physical Education and Sport department. The Trainee helps ensure that classes and interschool sport have the resources required for teaching and may also support sports coaches and students.

Key Responsibilities: The role involves communicating with clients and colleagues, assisting with the organisation and coordination of interschool sport and recreation programs. This includes attending camps and excursions. The Trainee supports staff with the set up and clean up of classes, maintains equipment and facilities and undertakes general sports administration. Duties may include coaching, managing storerooms, preparing equipment and uniforms, running lunchtime programs, following up with students and staff regarding sports information and assisting with carnivals. The Trainee may run activities in PE lessons under supervision and stocktaking the sports storeroom.

The Trainee is expected to actively support the school’s ethos and willingness to support others with an enthusiastic attitude. A commitment to contributing to a positive and supportive school environment is essential and have a keen interest in teaching. The position may involve weekend work and travel throughout the year. Applicants must also be able to work before or after school hours as required.

National Training Wage from: $27,300 – $43,700, plus 12% Superannuation
