Over the past 3 years, AFL SportsReady has worked in partnership with the Australian Government, and more recently with the National Careers Institute (NCI) raising the status of Vocational Education and Training (VET) and helping Australians understand that VET qualifications can lead to successful, meaningful, professional jobs – with great salaries and outstanding career prospects.

Our recent campaign, CAREERS ARE MADE THROUGH TRAINEESHIPS featured AFL SportsReady’s alumni that had gone on to have successful careers built on the foundation of their traineeship. 

This year we want to provide parents and guardians with the right tools and information about traineeships to help them support their teen with their career choices.

Parents and close family members are known to be the biggest influence on young people’s career decision-making. Our former trainees often say that they found out about the traineeship opportunity through one of their parents.

We will be producing a series of articles and interviews to get a parent’s perspective on the traineeship program and help to dispel misconceptions around VET.
