I Love my Traineeship Because…

During a recent visit to AFL House, we had the opportunity to sit down with AFL SportsReady trainees, to discuss why they love their Traineeship working at the AFL.

It was a great opportunity to meet the young people and to find out what a day in the life of a trainee is really like.

I Love my Traineeship Because…

“It has provided lots and lots of opportunities and experiences that I would not have gotten otherwise. Being able to study, have fun and work in an office setting which I would not have gotten to experience.

If you like footy that is a bonus to. It provides a career…you can work in a traditional business job while also being surrounded by footy.”

– Laura Attana, 20, Partnerships Department

“For me personally, I appreciate working in such a diverse space, where there is a mixing pot of different cultures.”

– Braidyn Dunford, Indigenous Department

“I have been able to network and get an insight into what different departments do, which has helped me decide what career path I want to go down.”

– Alysha Rae, 20, Football Operations

“Of the opportunities you get from working in the AFL and the atmosphere of the environment. My traineeship has been really helpful in getting an understanding of how everything functions, in such a large organisation.”

– George Fleming, Football Operations

“All of the relationships that I’ve made in the office and being able to work out of Marvel stadium is really cool.”

– Mia Mehmet, 20, Ticketing Department

“Of all of the experience I am getting at the moment and the connections I have made. My traineeship has been heaps of fun and the vibe at AFL House is great”

– Emily Webbe, 21, Membership Trainee

“I’ve done some amazing things that I thought I would ever get the opportunity to do – including  being a part of the AFL Grand Final, ANZAC Day footy games and attend formal events.”

– Jack Hitch, 25, Membership Trainee

“I get to work with amazing people and have been able to build incredible connections, while also being able to study and begin my career at the same time…there is no shortage of opportunities working in the AFL”

– Riley Jones, 20, Events Department
