HANNAH BASETTI
Netball Victoria

Devoted to sport, Hannah had always dreamed of working in an industry where she can help others achieve their sporting ambitions. After she finished school she set out to find something to help her reach her career goals and that’s when she found AFL SportsReady.

Hannah jumped on the website and discovered a range of jobs from banking to teaching and all sorts of different roles in sport.  The job at Netball Vic immediately caught her eye, she applied within minutes and a few weeks later scored the job.

What really stood out to Hannah about the traineeship was that she not only had the chance to gain work experience, she was also studying a nationally recognised qualification and getting paid at the same time. Coming straight out of school, an opportunity like this was perfect for Hannah as she was still undecided what direction to take.

The traineeship suited her to a tee as Hannah also competes in equestrian and has recently been recognised as one of the top ten Victorian Young Dresssage Riders of the Year and needed a program that accounted for her busy life. AFL SportsReady designs the traineeship in a way for students ensure they have work life balance making sure the trainees are still doing everything they love.

Hannah is now working as an Administration Assistant at Netball Victoria in the High performance Department alongside coaching and umpiring team at the Melbourne Vixens. She is also completing a Certificate IV in Sports Development and hopes to study another qualification with AFL SportsReady next year to even further add to her professionalism.

When asked whether she would recommend people to do a traineeship she said,” I would recommend for everyone to do it! I have never come across such a fantastic opportunity for young people. Whether they are straight from school, still in school or are looking for a job, this program gives you endless opportunities to grow and achieve your career dreams!”
