ArtsReady supporting Live Production technicians of the future
ArtsReady in partnership with Arts Communications Finance Industries and Property Services Industry Training Advisory Body (ACFIPS ITAB) (ACFIPS) is pleased to announce the launch of a pilot traineeship program to help support the Live Production industry.
As part of the program, which will initially be rolled out in Sydney, ArtsReady and TAFE NSW will recruit applicants to partake in a traineeship opportunity with employers such as AV1 and City Recital Hall.
With the shortage of skilled Live Production technicians and the opening of the new International Convention Centre, ICC Sydney and other technically demanding events and venues, ArtsReady hopes the new program will aid in the growth of the sector.
ArtsReady Program Manager for NSW, Rog Chhabra, is excited by the initiative and the opportunities it will create.
‘Since 2013 we have helped many young people launch their careers in the arts and creative sector. Our traineeship model combines valuable work experience with vocational education and allows young people to gain the skills, knowledge, and networks to get their foot in the door.’
ACFIPS Chair, Tim Cramsie, said that the shortage situation should start to improve now that action was being taken.
‘Live production technicians often have to employ their knowledge and skills in front of hundreds or thousands of people in a performance environment.
Prospective employers are looking to a workplace traineeship to provide the assurance that technical skills have been assessed as performance ready in a real-world setting.’
‘We have an action plan and commitment from employers to take on trainees. It is a great start and once the pilot is completed, we expect it to roll out to other regions.
If you have had some experience in live events and are looking to start your career, this traineeship is your entry into a dynamic industry sector.
