Jo Cain

Chief Executive Officer – Materiality Counts | GAICD, MSc, BSc(Hons), DipM, NEBOSH, CertMgmt

Jo is passionate about using her substantial governance experience for positive environmental and social impact, which drew her to the AFL SportsReady Board. She is highly skilled in enterprise risk and strategy and a sought-after expert in materiality and stakeholder engagement. Jo has served on a number of commercial not-for-profit and government boards, including youth services, and has her own business, Materiality Counts. She helps organisations determine what really matters for their business and stakeholders across the six capitals (IFRS – About). Jo served on the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board, the AUASB (About AUASB), for the maximum term of 9 years, as a public interest member providing ESG expertise. She has also served on the Banksia Foundation Board (Meet the Team – Banksia Foundation), for more than 10 years, including 3 years as Chair, and 7 years as Chair of the Awards Governance Committee. Banksia is the world’s longest standing sustainability awards organisation, collaborating with government, business, and community to create awards, events, and programs that promote sustainable solutions. On a more personal note, Jo is happiest underwater as a mad keen scuba diver most often seen diving on the Ningaloo Reef in WA (Ningaloo Reef – Tourism Western Australia)!
