Celebrating school success with record outcomes

AFL SportsReady is celebrating the success of our school support traineeship program, with a record breaking 98% of participants continuing full-time work or study after graduating in 2014.

More than 1000 school support trainees have taken part across Australia since 1994. Victoria is a stand-out when it comes to Host school success with 16 secondary colleges taking on multiple trainees, including Mount Lilydale Mercy College.

‘Having a trainee allows me to get so much more work done,’ said Health and PE Faculty Leader Andrew Leaumont.

‘I can honestly say I don’t know how I would get my job done without one,’
he said.

The program’s success and popularity with PE Departments has also seen the school support traineeship rollout to ArtsReady last year, offering up roles in visual arts, drama, music, performing arts and IT.

ArtsReady has 12 trainees working in school visual art and IT departments around the nation. Host schools are enjoying the benefits of the program, while taking advantage of our flexible full-time, part-time and school-based traineeship models to find the right fit for their needs and budget.

Our school trainees are equipped with unique skills and receive on-the-job experience throughout the program. This includes everything from gaining exposure in teaching support, lesson planning and excursion or camp organisation, all the way through to administrative assistance.

A number of schools are currently experiencing the benefits of hosting an AFL SportsReady/ArtsReady trainee. To see the schools that are already involved in our program, CLICK HERE.
