AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) is the peak body for Australian Rules Football in the Northern Territory. The AFL is Australia’s premier sporting organisation supporting a constantly evolving national competition which has experienced rapid growth over the past 10 years. The AFL is responsible for growing and developing Australian Football across Australia. It is AFL Northern Territory’s vision that participation growth continues to build, assisted by a strong club network with an enhanced focus on engaging female, multicultural and indigenous communities.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the Sport and Recreation industry, working with AFLNT’s Community Football Team. The Trainee will be responsible for assisting with the day to day running of Football Operations activities in the Top End. 

Key Responsibilities: The Football Operations Trainee will support the day-to-day running of AFLNT football operations, including match day preparation, administrative tasks and assistance with Match Review Panel and Tribunal processes. The Trainee will help manage matches as required and maintain accurate records in PlayHQ, including results and participation reporting for census and insurance purposes. The role involves building strong relationships with community clubs and volunteers, while ensuring all activities align with AFLNT Rules, Regulations and Competition By-Laws. The Trainee will also provide general administrative support across the organisation, assist at major events, and represent AFLNT within the community. In addition, the Trainee will assist with reception duties, volunteer engagement and participation growth.

Applicants must have a genuine passion for Australian Rules Football and a desire to contribute to its growth throughout the Northern Territory. A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle are also required. Due to the nature of the sport industry, flexibility to work evenings and weekends is essential.

National Training Wage from: $27,000 – $42,000, plus 12% Superannuation
