The college provides a safe, supportive and caring adult learning environment that is a bridge between your younger school days and the adult world of employment, work and training. Hellyer College is designed for young adults and provides a wide range of support services.

This position supports the Outdoor Education and Physical Recreation programs at the College. The Sport and Recreation Trainee will play an active role in assisting staff with the delivery of a wide range of sporting and outdoor activities, contributing to the organisation and smooth running of programs and events.

Key Responsibilities: The Trainee will assist with a range of duties that includes attending camps and excursions, setting up, packing up classes. Taking responsibility for maintaining equipment, facilities and the school bus. The role also involves sports administration, packing trailers with equipment, coaching, maintaining the storeroom, preparing sporting kits and supporting lunchtime programs. The role will help communicate sports messages and information to students / staff, supervise the college gym and weights area, induct students to the gym and support student activities at the accommodation centre.

The successful applicant will have a strong interest in outdoor activities, sport and recreation. They should be well organised, able to work as part of a team and possess good communication skills. The role suits someone motivated, reliable and capable of working independently, who enjoys engaging with a wide range of people.

National Training Wage from: $28,100 – $43,570, plus 12% Superannuation
