The Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) was established in 1990 to support the development of Victoria’s best athletes. Located at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park, VIS is a non-residential institute that leverages Melbourne’s outstanding sporting facilities, enabling high-performance athletes to live and train in Australia’s sporting capital. VIS works in partnership with National Sporting Organisations and State Sporting Associations to deliver high-performance daily training environments (DTEs) that support athletes and sports in achieving the outcomes of the National High Performance Sport Strategy.
The Business Administration Trainee provides reception, administrative and operational support at the Victorian Institute of Sport. The role is responsible for creating a welcoming front-of-house experience, managing enquiries and assisting with key administrative tasks that support the daily operations of the institute.
Key Responsibilities: This role is responsible for delivering a warm and professional front-of-house experience by greeting visitors, directing phone calls and assisting athletes, staff and guests. The position also provides essential administrative support across the organisation, including scheduling appointments, managing shared email inboxes, responding to website enquiries and maintaining internal databases. The trainee will assist with administrative processes such as coordinating Parking Permit and Swipe Card applications, maintaining records and supporting general facility operations. The role plays an important part in ensuring the institute operates efficiently while creating a positive experience for athletes, staff and visitors. Additional responsibilities may include supporting the People and Community team with events, reporting and engagement activities, as well as assisting the Facilities Manager with operational and administrative tasks as required.
We’re looking for someone who creates a positive experience for athletes, staff and visitors. You’ll bring strong communication and organisational skills, attention to detail and confidence using Microsoft Office. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential. Previous reception or administration experience is desirable but not required.

National Training Wage from: $28,100 – $45,200, plus 12% Superannuation
