Celebrating our 2015 graduates
Graduation season is upon us once again. Over the next few months, AFL SportsReady will hold graduation ceremonies across the country. The event brings together our employment partners, our staff and the families of our trainees and students to formally celebrate the achievements of our graduates.
Over the years these events have evolved and flourished as AFL SportsReady’s programs and services have diversified. This year will showcase all our programs including ArtsReady, Warumilang, SportsReady Education, Executive Education and our Football program which sees 80 first year AFL players complete a qualification. In total over 600 trainees and students will graduate across Australia in 2016.
Two major awards will be presented on the night in each state. The 2015 Trainee of the Year award will be given to the trainee who has demonstrated outstanding achievement and dedication in their traineeship and has gone above and beyond in their workplace. The Hostplus Rising Star will be awarded to the trainee who has shown most potential and growth in their role.
Hostplus is an award winning industry superannuation fund, for those who live and love hospitality, tourism and recreation. They are also our major partner for the graduation ceremonies with this year marking our strong 10 year partnership.
The first graduation will kick off in Perth on March 10, followed by Adelaide on March 16, Brisbane on March 23, Canberra on April 6, Sydney on April 7, Victoria on April 30 and lastly Hobart on May 6.
Graduation season also provides us with the opportunity to recognise and thank our corporate partners, host employers and university partners. Without our hosts and partners, the range of opportunities given to young people participating in our programs would not be possible.
Through our programs we strive to provide meaningful employment opportunities for young Australians as well as equipping them with a qualification and valuable work experience. Many of our graduating trainees and students will go on to full time employment opportunities, taking on management positons to become future leaders in their respective industries and valuable role models for other young people. Our exclusive partnerships with some of Australia top universities also give our trainees and students the opportunities to undertake further study.
AFL SportsReady CEO, James Montgomery, believes, ‘Our graduations are important occasions when we get to celebrate and acknowledge everyone – from our trainees and students, to employers and families, who all work together to help kick start the careers of all the hundreds of talented young men and women, who work with us each year.’
