The Sports/PE Trainee provides essential support to teaching staff in the planning and delivery of the school’s Sport, Physical Education, and Outdoor Education programs. Enrolled in the AFL SportsReady Program, the Trainee will complete a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation while gaining hands-on experience in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities: The Trainee will assist with the planning and preparation of school sporting events, camps, as well as supporting teachers in organising resources for Health, PE and Outdoor Education lessons. The Trainee will have opportunities to plan, run a variety of sports and recreation activities that cater to the diverse interests of students. Additional responsibilities include participating in day excursions and camps, assisting with supervision, managing equipment, permission forms, completing stocktakes of PE and Sport storerooms and handling purchase orders for required equipment. The role requires a commitment to student wellbeing, child safety policies and ongoing professional development, while also contributing to the school’s broader health and safety policies.

The Sports/PE Trainee will report directly to the Head of PE and follow directions from their supervisor, Head of Department, Sports Coordinator and the HPE learning team. This role also involves active communication with key stakeholders such as staff, students, parents, the Principal leadership team and external support services. For further details, applicants should refer to the school’s child-safe policy, as well as other relevant procedures relating to the safety and wellbeing of students. People with tertiary qualifications need not apply. Current university applicants may have to defer their studies to be eligible for this traineeship.

National Training Wage from: $21,500, plus 11.5% Superannuation
