Where are they now – Kobie Scott
As the next cohort of talented young trainees approach graduation, we wanted to share some of the career achievements from our alumni.
AFL SportsReady Alumni, Kobie Scott, winner of the AFL SportsReady Trainee of the Year Award for WA in 2015 shares an update on her career journey. After taking on a traineeship in the finance team at ANZ all while being a mother of two, Kobie went on to thrive in her traineeship. She completed her Certificate III in Finance and quickly gained a qualification and progressed towards an amazing career.
Where did your traineeship journey begin?
At 26 I began my traineeship within the Finance team at ANZ. I worked full time with ANZ and completed all the certificates with AFL SportsReady. The balance was a challenge as I was also a mother of two young children at the time though this provided me with an opportunity to get my foot in the door within the banking field.
Where are you working now?
Since completing my traineeship, I have had great success with my career at ANZ. Soon after completing my traineeship I was offered a senior position within my branch which I held for 12 months before moving back to my home town of Bunbury. I gained the same position there as a senior in a very large and busy branch. I kept that position for two years whilst completing my manger training. I now am an Operation Team manager and work from home with my team being around the whole country.
How has your traineeship helped you in your career?
My traineeship was my foot in the door to finance, it set the foundations for my career. It gave me the drive to succeed and with the success of the trainee of the year it motivated me to push further. I often tell people of my starting roots with the AFL SportsReady traineeship program and that with hard work, dedication and the right attitude the sky is the limit.
