The 2015 AFL SportsReady Graduation season has come to an end, wrapping up in Tasmania. Standout trainee Xanthe Pastoor was honoured at the final event, taking out the 2015 Trainee of the Year, a moment that she said left her ‘feeling inspired’ for the future.

‘My favourite part of the traineeship was the graduation ceremony. Seeing everyone's achievements, the obstacles everyone has overcome to get to this point and the diversity of the trainees was really motivating,’ she explained.

Xanthe completed her traineeship with the Back in Motion Health Group in Hobart, while also studying a Certificate III in Business. The 20 year old described her appreciation of the support she received throughout her traineeship, saying it was one of the biggest highlights of her experience.

‘I received so much guidance from my hosts, and my AFL SportsReady mentor was also an amazing support. She was always there to answer any questions, which I really appreciated,’ smiled Xanthe.

Xanthe’s success has continued after receiving the Trainee of the Year Award in Tasmania, with the Back in Motion Health Group offering the young gun ongoing, full-time employment.

AFL SportsReady Manager of Education & Employment for Tasmania, Tracey Parry described Xanthe a pleasure to mentor.

‘She has a bubbly nature and friendly smile. I think that is why she has been so successful in this role and her personality has enabled her to work so well.

She has taken on more and more responsibility and has relished in the opportunity to step up during busy times and staff absences,’ she said.

The Tasmanian Graduation ceremony also saw Australia Post trainee Brodie Deverell take home the 2015 Hostplus Rising Star Award.
