DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Learn about the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia:
• Attend team and project meetings to understand what is happening at the NFSA and across the Collection Management, Conservation and Digitisation Branch to meet our strategic goals.
Learn about archiving practices:
• Gain an understanding of the importance of media asset management systems, safe handling and preservation techniques and storage of audiovisual materials (film, video, records)
• Learn about the NFSA’s 3.3 million collection items and understand what we collect and how it is looked after.
• Understand the work health and safety requirements of working within an audiovisual archive and help keep other staff safe.
• Learn to accurately record information about the location, condition and content of the NFSA collection.

Learn the basic processes for preparing and digitising audiovisual materials:
• Digitise fragile and deteriorated audiovisual material to archival standards.
• Assist with handling or moving the NFSA’s audiovisual collection between different locations in Canberra, including rehousing materials in the collection vaults.
• Assist with cleaning and preparing audiovisual materials, such as video and audio tapes, so that they can be digitised.
Undertake a range of general office activities:
• Provide general administrative support for team activities and projects.
• Assist in maintaining records about the collection or keep track of requests using online systems.
Under close support:
• Assist and participate in the development and delivery of activities at the NFSA.
• Attend meetings relating to CCM activities.
• Assist and support team members working on other tasks as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for this position you must:

• Identify as a First Nations Australian
• Be an Australian Citizen; and
• Satisfactorily complete an Australian Federal Police National Police Check.

SALARY

As the successful candidate, you will receive:

$26,000 – $40,000 plus 11% Superannuation

  • National Training Wage Award
  • Fully Funded Qualification
