Kicking Goals in Sport and Events Management
As Tahli Purdue wraps up her second year in a Management Traineeship at AFL House, she reflects on her journey so far and the experiences that have shaped her career in sport.
After finishing high school, Tahli took a Gap Year travelling through Europe. When she returned to Australia, she knew it was time to focus on her career.
I wanted to get my foot in the door in an industry I’m passionate about.
Joining AFL SportsReady allowed her to do just that.
Working on match day and events, Tahli’s role is dynamic and fast-paced.
I manage the activations inbox, communicate with clubs to make sure they’re following commercial and footy ops guidelines on match days, work with VIP talent at events and coordinate suppliers.
While it was a steep learning curve at first, she quickly found her stride.
Completing her first traineeship felt like only the beginning.
Everything had just started to click and I didn’t want to stop that development.
My team offered me the chance to stay on and complete a second traineeship, which was an opportunity I was so grateful for.
Tahli speaks highly of her time at AFL House.
I’ve had the chance to do things I never thought I’d be doing.
A key highlight is being involved with all the concerts such as Coldplay, Travis Scott and Pearl Jam!
It’s been such an incredible experience and I’ve learned so much along the way.
I’m lucky to be part of such a supportive team who’ve guided me through it all.

They’ve been great at keeping in touch and offering support whenever I needed it. Having my Employment Coach there to guide me has made all the difference.
Looking back, Tahli feels a sense of pride in how far she’s come.
This traineeship has been so fulfilling and has really helped me kickstart my career in sport. I never expected to be doing the things I’m doing now.
