In the Spirit of Sport

Nestled in the serene landscape of the Bellarine Peninsula near Geelong, Victoria, Saint Ignatius College, stands as a guiding light of educational excellence and community spirit. With its enduring motto “Amare Et Servire” (To Love and To Serve), the college nurtures a culture of academic achievement, compassion and sportsmanship.

Among the college’s alumni is Ryan Drinkwater, who has returned to his alma mater to embark on a new journey as a Sport Trainee.

Ryan’s dedication to his passion is evident as he undertakes a part-time Sport Traineeship. Committing to 30 hours per week to honing his skills and contributing to the vibrant sports culture of the college. Pursuing a Certificate IV in Sport Development, Ryan exemplifies the college’s ethos of lifelong learning and personal growth.

In his first month on the job, Ryan has seamlessly integrated into the college’s sports department, immersing himself in a bunch of activities. From providing administrative support to the Sports Coordinator and Learning Area Leader Health and Physical Education to assisting with PE classes and sporting events. Ryan’s role is multifaceted and has been quite dynamic.

Utilising the Saint Ignatius data system, Operoo, Ryan ensures efficient communication with parents regarding excursions and sports activities. His role extends to maintaining databases, coordinating bus bookings and organising the cleaning and washing of uniforms and equipment.

Ryan’s commitment extends beyond the administrative realm. He actively participates in coaching sessions and assists with setting up and running practical classes.

Along with providing support during events, camps and excursions.
Whether it’s coaching basketball, organising snorkelling adventures or assisting with swimming carnivals, Ryan’s passion for sports shines through.

Recently, Ryan found himself engaged in the year 12 retreat at Don Bosco camp. Where he continues to embody the college’s values of service and community.

As Ryan continues to make strides in his Sport Traineeship, we anticipate the positive impact he will have on the sports program at Saint Ignatius College Geelong.

With his dedication, enthusiasm and commitment, Ryan Drinkwater embodies the spirited pursuit of sportsmanship and camaraderie that defines the college’s ethos. Serving as an inspiration to students and staff alike.

In Ryan Drinkwater, we see not just a Trainee, but an individual who aspires to and is committed to shaping his career and the future of sporting excellence at the College.
