Supporting The AFL Industry Through Online Learning

In these challenging times, adapting to the new online environment is crucial and AFL SportsReady’s Athlete and Sports Education team have not only successfully evolved by delivering their AFL courses online but have found ways to continue to support the AFL by developing new services and innovating old ones.

“We have had a focus on maintaining communication, continuing to offer adapted programs and to develop new programs and services,” Said Manager, Matthew Scholes, Director of Education/Head of AFL Programs, Athlete & Sports Education Department.

The department comprises of a team of highly qualified and skilled professionals who have extensive experience in elite sports and education. Their aim is to create learning solutions to maximise outcomes for players, clubs, and the broader public who are involved or interested in working in the AFL and sporting industry.

“It’s been definitely a challenge, but our team is working around the clock to keep up the momentum and it is paying off.”

“My key message would be in a time like this – focus on what you can do, adapt want you can’t do.”

Here are just some of the ways the team has adapted to the new normal and are continuing to support the AFL industry.

AFL EXECUTIVE PROGRAMS

Last week the team launched three different types of online AFL Executive courses offering adaptings from previous popular courses, they include; Specialist Certificate in Coaching Female Athletes, Advanced Certificate in Identifying and Developing Young AFL Talent and Professional Certificate in Leadership (AFL). The team continues to deliver their AFL Certificates online and via zoom. There are 66 current AFL players enrolled, with an additional 20 new players being added to the program.

The department will continue to adapt and tailor learning solutions to maximise the outcomes for both players, their Clubs, and the broader AFL Industry in these challenging times.
