    This course is delivered in Victoria as aTraineeship model only. Training will be on the job training including educator visits at their workplace.

    Traineeship – 12-18 months

    Trainees are expected to complete assessments for each unit of competency in their own time outside of workshops or visits. Trainees will be allocated scheduled time away from their usual work practices to complete assessment requirements.

    The Certificate III in Fitness comprises 9 core units and 7 elective units of study. The units set out below form the basis of the qualification but can be subject to change.

    SISFFIT001 Provide health screening & fitness orientation
    SISFFIT002 Recognise and apply exercise considerations for specific populations
    SISFFIT003 Instruct fitness programs
    SISFFIT004 Incorporate anatomy and physiology principles into fitness programming
    SISFFIT005 Provide healthy eating information
    SISFFIT0014 Instruct exercise to older clients
    SISXCCS001 Provide quality service
    SISXFAC001 Maintain equipment for activities
    SISXIND001 Work effectively in sport, fitness and recreation environments
    BSBRSK401 Identify risk and apply risk management processes
    HLTAID003 Provide first aid
    HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health and safety
    SISFFIT006 Conduct fitness appraisals
    SISFFIT011 Instruct approved community fitness programs
    SISFFIT012 Instruct movement programs to children aged 5 to 12 years

    Credit for an equivalent unit of competency previously achieved will be granted upon receipt of certificate evidence.
