Mother Teresa Catholic College

We are a Catholic co-educational College registered to enrol students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, in the extensive and rapidly growing suburb of Baldivis, situated 60 kilometres South of Perth in the City of Rockingham. The College is now in its tenth year of existence in 2023, with classes from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12.

KEY AREA: RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
(K-12)
An example of tasks includes:
• Effectively organising equipment
• Labelling and maintaining equipment
• Repairing equipment
• Stocktake equipment
• Photocopying notices for students
• Assist with PE classes where appropriate. For example, sports extension umpiring, setting up circuits, etc
• Supervise aquatic activities, with staff member
• Check incoming goods and reconcile them with the order
• Other related duties as requested.
PROVIDE SUPPORT TO THE COLLEGE SPORT PROGRAM
(K-12)
An example of tasks includes:
• Post up-to-date tables on noticeboards.
• Answering incoming calls, taking messages and re-directing calls as required
• Responding to email enquiries from staff, students, or parents
• Extensive use of Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, Word & PowerPoint
• Prepare coaches’ equipment at the start of summer and winter sports ready for distribution to coaches.
• Assist with record keeping during trials, for eg. Athletics and Swimming
• Data entry of trials, for eg. Athletics, Netball and Basketball
• Unpack coaches’ equipment when they come in at the end of each season.
• Coach a summer and winter sport, including after school matches.
• Umpire games in their area of expertise, including after school games.
• Assist at Interhouse and Interschool carnivals and events.
• Assist during swimming time trials with each year group.
• Provide support for teams that may be travelling to metropolitan competitions.
ASSIST ON OUTDOOR EDUCATION CAMPS
(9-12) • For camps in Middle School (Year 9-10), assist with group activities and logistics including Cycling, Fishing and Kayaking
• Year 11/12 Outdoor Education expeditions, provide support to Coordinating teachers with respect to supervision.
• Help supervise aquatic activities for camps and excursions.
This position may also be used in other areas of the school where an extra supervisor is required, especially in relation to supervision in and around aquatic environments e.g. geography, music camps and other trips.
ACTIVELY SUPPORT
SCHOOL OPERATIONS
Comply with all relevant legislative, regulatory obligations, School’s codes, policies and procedures;
Complete administrative and operational activities in alignment with School’s requirements; and
Be willing to undertake tasks as requested by the Principal or their delegate.
TIME ALLOCATIONS BETWEEN SCHOOLS It is expected that 30% of their time will be spent in Junior School and 70% of their time in Senior School (subject to change through commitment to carnivals).
SUPERVISION:
This position reports directly to the Head of Learning Area Health and Physical Education & Sport, Associate Principal for Primary School (3-6), Middle School (7-9), Senior School (10-12), Vice Principal and ultimately the Principal.
This position is not responsible for classes on or off the premises and cannot take the place of a teacher who has responsibility for the class.
The individual is permitted to drive a school vehicle if it is required for the role, however not permitted to transport students in either a school vehicle or private vehicle. Note, permission must be granted from the Associate or Vice Principal before a school vehicle is used.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
PERSON CRITERIA / SELECTION CRITERIA:
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
• Ideally, this individual should be familiar with at least two sports. Preferably, a winter and summer sport. They will be encouraged to complete level one coaching courses in each sport and potentially level one umpiring courses.
• The following are a requirement prior to commencement:
– Current Working with Children clearance
– Current National Police clearance
– Hold appropriate Australian work rights
– First Aid Certificate (or working towards)
• The following are desirable qualifications
– Community Surf Rescue Certificate or RLSSA Bronze Medallion (or working towards)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of safe work practices.
• Sound computer literacy and use of Word, Excel and email.
• Sound verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Good time management skills.
• Flexible approach and willingness to help and support others.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is employed by AFL SportsReady and placed at Mother Teresa Catholic College for the employment period. Upon appointment, a contract of employment will be provided by AFL SportsReady with all applicable terms and conditions of employment. For the purposes of recruitment only, the following is provided as a guide.
Award National Training Wage Award
Employment period Fixed-term, commencing 29th January 2025 and concluding 19th December 2025.
Hours of work As a guide, hours of work are 38 hours per week and a normal work day is 8:30am to 4:30pm. These hours will vary when the position requires attendance at sport, training, camps, etc.
The role works on one-week of each of the school holidays at the end of terms one, two and three. These weeks can be negotiated with the HOLA HPE & Sport and notify the School Business Manager. There may be occasions whereby longer hours during term (for example, to attend a camp) may be ‘off-set’ during a school holiday period.
During the School holiday work periods, the individual may be required to work under supervision of the grounds and/or administration staff.
Salary As a guide, the current rate applicable for a full-time employee is between $27,000-37,000 gross per annum, dependent on age, qualification and experience, plus superannuation.
The training cost associated with the traineeship will be covered by AFL SportsReady.

$30,000 – $40,000 plus 11.5% Superannuation
