The First Nations Events and Engagement Trainee will play a key role in supporting the Staff Engagement Coordinator with the planning, logistics, implementation of events and programs across the broader University community. This position will contribute to fostering meaningful engagement within the University’s staff networks and assist with their leadership initiatives. Additionally, the Trainee will manage the Diversity and Inclusion inbox to ensure emails and communications are directed to the appropriate team members.

Key Responsibilities: Key responsibilities for this role include assisting the Staff Engagement Coordinator in delivering programs focused on cultural diversity and career development, such as the Sydney Women’s Leadership Program, the Vice-Chancellor’s Sponsorship Program and the Positioning for Promotion Program. The role will also support communication and engagement with staff networks, including the PRIDE Network, MOSAIC Network, Women@Sydney Network, DAWN and the YURA Network, for events, promotions and committee or member meetings. The Trainee will help coordinate the logistics and execution of major University events such as Mardi Gras, International Women’s Day, 7 Days of Activism and Disability Inclusion Week.

The Trainee will assist the Diversity and Inclusion team with various engagement tasks, including planning activities for events like Mabo Day, the Aboriginal Sign Language Forum and in-person network activities such as Co-Chair meetings and end-of-year functions. This position offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to creating an inclusive and dynamic University environment. This traineeship is not available to people with tertiary qualifications and current university applicants may need to defer their studies to be eligible.
